Paid Garden Internship for Teens - BEETS - Apply by 9/4!

Teens:  Do you enjoy working outdoors? Working with kids? Motivated to learn new job skills? The BEETS program is hiring for  fall interns!  This paid  internship will allow teens to learn how to grow healthy food, work with a diverse group of peers, teach kids, and positively impact the community.  This fall, our interns will learn about food justice and the healing properties of food and plants.   

Our BEETS interns:

  • Maintain community and school gardens in the Western Addition
  • Develop critical job skills (resume writing, interviewing skills, showing up on time, professionalism, etc.)
  • Assist teaching our elementary school garden classes
  • Attend field trips 
  • Earn ~$1,074 during session (depending on hours worked & attendance)

Eligibility:

  • 15-19 years of age on  Sept. 24, 2015
  • Living in San Francisco (priority given to Western Addition residents)
  • Interested in gaining experience in basic horticulture, environmental education, and basic job skills
  • Able to commit to the entire  fall 201 5  session:  Sept. 24 - Dec 10, 2015 
  • Available: Tuesday and Thursday 3:45pm-5:45pm, 1 additional weekday shift based on their availability, and 1-2 Saturdays/month 
  • Legally employable in the U.S.
