Young Asian Women Against Violence

YAWAV is a year long youth leadership program at the Community Youth Center. YAWAV is dedicated to the positive empowerment and development of Asian / API young women in San Francisco, high school ages: 15 - 18. Throughout the program, youth leaders will examine the specific root causes and impacts of violence in our communities. Our goals are to strengthen the resilience, pride, knowledge, and skills of youth leaders so that we can educate our communities on the impacts of violence. YAWAV youth leaders advocate for equality and social justice for all women and girls. YAWAV provides support, resources, advocacy, and education to strengthen to heal and end gender - based and sexual violence. Working together with peers, community organizations, schools, and institutions, we are all part of a larger struggle and solution to end violence against women and girls.

YAWAV takes place from September 2015 to June 2016.
Meetings are 3x a week AFTER SCHOOL : 2 hrs/mtg. Minimum GPA requirement: 2.50

SF YouthWorks is Hiring!

Applications are due by 5pm on Friday, September 4th.

It’s that time of the year again! The SF YouthWorks school year session application is now available. We plan to hire up to 150 high school youth to work as interns in city government offices, libraries and recreation facilities. YouthWorks interns will work up to ten hours per week from October through April, and will be paid $12.25 per hour.

Applicants must be in the 11th or 12th grade, live and attend school in San Francisco, be interested in exploring a career in government, and have the ability to work at least 6 hours per week after school. Youth gain important work experience while learning about careers in public service.

***There are three ways to complete and submit your application:

1) DOWNLOAD:Download your application here, complete all questions and essays, and turn in your application at our office. You can mail it or bring it in person but it must be in our office by 5pm on Friday, September 4th in order to be considered.

2) ONLINE:Complete an online application here.  Then complete a Required Documents Packet (RDP) that can be downloaded here or picked up at our office. Application and RDP must be received by Friday, September 4th at 5pm. Online applications are our preferred method.

3) IN PERSON: Pick up a copy of the application from our office, complete it, and return it in person or by mail before 5pm on Friday, September 4th.
